Greater Manchester Mayors Visit

The ELR hosted a unique visit of Mayors from across the 10 districts which make up Greater Manchester, who enjoyed their Civic Dinner in fine dining on our sumptuous Pullman carriages hauled by the A Class 52322 steam locomotive built in 1896.

Jez Mansfield

It was very sad news to learn of the death of Jez Mansfield, who sadly passed away peacefully following hospitalisation due to the return of cancer which he had been in remission from for a number of years. Jez, who had been a long time supporter of the ELR was a fantastic magician entertaining our visitors to the railway especially on Santa Specials and our 40’s Weekend historical event. We send our condolence to Emma, his wife, and his family and friends.

Pete Waterman

It was great to welcome Pete Waterman to the ELR. Pete was visiting the railway to honour a commitment as the prize in the ELR Preservation Society raffle.
