The summer that keeps on Giving!

18-08-11 - Volunteer BBQ (Large)Summer BBQ

A date for the diary. As a thank to our fabulous band of volunteers  and paid staff we are hosting a summer barbeque on Saturday 11th August in the Bury Transport Museum at Castlecroft from 18.00. Come along bring your partner and enjoy a great ELR summer evening.

Burrs Country Park – I am pleased to announce the opening of the Lamp post Café located in the former Burrs Activity Centre. Passengers travelling on the ELR can get a 10% discount on proof a valid ticket.  Mark and Nicola are great hosts. Breakfast and all-day menus. Open 9-5pm every day.

Vandalism – In July 2017, everyone who loves the railway were outraged and angry when we discovered the wanted damage was caused by school age children. This summer work is underway to install new CCTV cameras and security patrols. To help with these initiatives, we need all working members and staff to remain vigilant in keeping Buckley Wells secure at all times.

  1. I had the pleasure of meeting Mark and Nicola in February when they were in the process of tendering for the cafe. I asked them would they consider a discount for our passengers AND working members. They agreed there and then if they won the tender. Glad they did as they provide a great service. Burrs is a great destination to alight and enjoy Burrs country park and enjoy a refreshing hot beveridge and freshly prepared food. Make sure you take your valid travel ticket or your ELR working members card to obtain a 10% discount!
