Last night (4 January) at a meeting of the ELR Board I presented, on behalf of the Board, an inscribed scale model of the Crab to Peter Duncan our retiring Chair to pay tribute for his loyalty and commitment to the ELR. Peter will be continuing in his important role as Signalling Director.
Peter has been a volunteer since 1977, a Director since August 1984 and Chairman from 2001-2015. During that period he has overseen a transformation in the popularity, patronage and reputation of the heritage railway. The ELR is now celebrated as an award winning regional leisure destination being the 3rd biggest paid attraction in Greater Manchester and where last year a record number of visitors, over 163,000, enjoyed a diverse range of events for Adults, Children Families and Schools.
