The record breaking Christmas Season for the 2015 will go down in ELR history. Thousands, yes over 38,000 customers came this year to enjoy this special annual experience that only the ELR can put on. To achieve this we ran 105 Santa Trains; 2 School Santa’s; 282 Heywood Shuttles; 18 Christmas Diners, including 3 Murder Mysteries. Interestingly, some 23,000 mince pies and Sherries were consumed. Our brilliant Santa’s gave out over 16,000 presents to the children. For the techies, we used over 100 tons of coal.
Whether it was cleaning the trains, being a part of Santa’s team or behind the scenes in the shops, booking office, diners; putting up the decorations, maintaining the track, rolling stock, signalling, train crews, transport museum, station staff and many many more fantastic contributions, it was all down to our hundreds of volunteers and staff who pulled out all the stops to ensure all our customers came away with an unforgettable experience. Well done to everyone right across the railway. We can be rightly be proud that the ELR Christmas Season, is now the most popular and biggest event of its kind in the Country.
