I want to introduce myself as the new Chair of the ELLR Company. You may have seen in the Company’s recent press release that Peter Duncan has stepped down after 14 great years. I have taken up office from today ( 1st January for a period of 3 years). We all wish Peter well and hope to see him at the ELR for many years to come.
Like so many others connected with the ELR I am a volunteer and joined the railway to be a part of something very special and unique.
In making myself available to this membership I want to meet all staff and volunteers but of course that will take time. I am very much looking forward to seeing as many that can attend the ELRPS Annual General Meeting in April next year. However, in order to engage with all Members at an early stage I have set up a Chair’s Blog and created a Twitter account, which is – @elrchairman
Hopefully this will be a direct way to keep the staff, volunteer members along with our many partners informed of what’s happening both at the sharp end but also news from the Boardroom.
There will be a facility for questions/ideas and where possible I will give a personal reply. If this is not possible for some reason I will pass these on to the relevant members of staff who will respond. All questions and answers will be dated and available for viewing on my Blog site.
I have already been out and about and here I am visiting the booking office to meet Laura Duncan, Peter Eccles, Mike Moore and Peter Jones to thank them and the volunteers for manning the phones and ticket office at such a busy time with Santa Specials.
